Vero Beach also know as Velcro Beach.

Vero Beach also know as Velcro Beach.

Leaving Peck's Lake and going a couple of miles we saw the St. Lucie Inlet docks, a nice state park on the ICW, A ranger told us we would find 4-5 ft if we approached the docks from the northwest and could tie up as needed for day use. We will check this out next trip down.

St. Lucie Inlet park docs. We will try and visit next trip
Approaching Vero Beach

A summer storm came in so fast it caught our neighbor out in the rain
The summer storms are forecast for every day on the coast and are fast and furious sometimes. We experienced one that had 50 mph winds and had to anchor in the ICW channel for an hour till it moved offshore.

The huge yacht next to us had a time out in the storm in their runabout.

Near Peanut Island

Tucked in at Vero Beach Marina. A very nice city marina with fuel and amenities we liked. The beach is a short bike ride away. Dock master and crew very helpful and accommodating.

Dink dock at Vero Beach

Always a treat to see our friends on the water

City park @ free dock Cocoa Beach. The dock was south of bridge and easy in and out. Lots of boats anchored out and using the boat ramp docks to dingy in. The town is nearby, but we did not visit as it looked like some of the buildings were boarded up and two people came to the boat and warned us not to leave our boat unguarded. I don't know if this was well founded information but better safe than sorry. A hardware store can be seen from the park, appeared to be open.

Dolphins attack the bow wake

Suzsea has dolphin watch and barks her head off when she sees one. We are trying to train her to do the same for crab pots

Had to request an opening on this one. All the bridge operators we talked with on the radio were professional and helpful like this one near Cocoa. A lot of the boats we heard talking on channel 9/16 don't follow protocol or seem to understand how to use a VHF.

Ponce Inlet and a low bridge we cleared @ 22 ft

Free city dock @ Cocoa is South of the bridge. Anchorage is South of power lines that parallel the bridge. The approach off the ICW is to stay close to shore after turning to the West and stay away from the power lines. The water we saw was 14 ft at the dock.
