A quick walk around the park @ Cocoa Beach and we will push off to New Smyrna Beach 50 miles North on the ICW Suzsea has first watch. Many boats anchored where the ICW is wide.  A first we thought this was a fort. One of the markers said it  is the remains of a historic hotel. Across the street is the City Marina for NSB. We were told by the dockmaster that there is a waiting list for long term slips. He was very nice about talking with us but seemed to say he would be full up next fall and winter.  After visiting the town we know why. Long shot from the ICW bridge to the South of the town docks and the marina to the North of the huge condos. I biked over the bridge to a shopping center a few miles away. It was the high 90sF and the traffic is typical with land dwellers always in a big hurry, but there is a nice bike trail both sides of the bridge and I felt safe.  Publix, Walgreens and much more. Vero Beach also know as Velcro Beach. Leaving Peck's Lake and going a couple of miles we saw the St. Lucie Inlet docks, a nice state park on the ICW, A ranger told us we would find 4-5 ft if we approached the docks from the northwest and could tie up as needed for day use. We will check this out next trip down. St. Lucie Inlet park docs. We will try and visit next trip Approaching Vero Beach A summer storm came in so fast it caught our neighbor out in the rain The summer storms are forecast for every day on the coast and are fast and furious sometimes. We experienced one that had 50 mph winds and had to anchor in the ICW channel for an hour till it moved offshore. The huge yacht next to us had a time out in the storm in their runabout. Near Peanut Island Tucked in at Vero Beach Marina. A very nice city marina with fuel and amenities we liked. The beach is a short bike ride away.
