I would hold my hand out the window and pretend I was flying. There was one paved highway we eventually got to then she would say to me “Roll the window up son, I am gonna be doin 60 now we're on the highway!” There were no child seats and most disdained any restraint like seat belts. My 5 year old mind could not conceive the mileage, speed and distance back then. I could only watch as the telephone & power poles started to go by like fence posts as mom speed-ed up the powerful V8 car on the blacktop high way into the small town on the Western side

Working on your boat, Part of my Heart and Soul

We have been docked at the Marina at Ortega Landing since our return from up/down the St John's River in 2015. We made a few day trips and one week away from the dock, plus the haulout for bottom  in 2015 and this year for bottom paint and an out of the water survey for insurance, the engines are not run under load that much. We ran them after a service on the filters and recorded the running engines. I noticed a noise and used a mechanics stethoscope to locate the source. A bearing in the idler pulley for the twin drive belts. The belts pull the water pump for the engine coolant. there is a another pump for sea or raw water on the engines. Volvo parts list. #25 is the bearing needed. $54 @ Volvo plus shipping. The bearing is an easy replacement. You need a snap ring removed and a bearing driven out. If you ignore noises like this it can be a failure while under way and you could lose the engine when it overheats. Here are the videos that have the noise in them.  Diesels ar
