Cocoa to New Smyrna Beach

A quick walk around the park @ Cocoa Beach and we will push off to New Smyrna Beach 50 miles North on the ICW

Suzsea has first watch. Many boats anchored where the ICW is wide.

A first we thought this was a fort. One of the markers said it  is the remains of a historic hotel. Across the street is the City Marina for NSB. We were told by the dockmaster that there is a waiting list for long term slips. He was very nice about talking with us but seemed to say he would be full up next fall and winter.  After visiting the town we know why.

Long shot from the ICW bridge to the South of the town docks and the marina to the North of the huge condos. I biked over the bridge to a shopping center a few miles away. It was the high 90sF and the traffic is typical with land dwellers always in a big hurry, but there is a nice bike trail both sides of the bridge and I felt safe.  Publix, Walgreens and much more. The beach is a mile or so more.

Looking toward Sheephead cut form the city dock. Several boats are anchored here.

This interesting memorial is in the park along with a very nice memorial to the early Greek and European settlers of NSB.

The memorial honored WW1 Vets and the unit plaques were interesting. The Korean war has a plaque and their is a separate memorial to Viet Nam Vets. For some reason I could not find a mention of WW2????? Very strange.

Lots of boat anchored on the ICW where the water is wide.

The Docks are well kept , clean and we felt safe and secure while visiting.

The park is part of a network of walking trails. There is a clean restroom near the docks.

A view of the docks from the ICW bridge. The first and second dock  is for fishing not docking

The town and several highly recommend restaurants are just up the street.
We would stay longer the welcome was so nice with several people coming by to say hello and offer information and even a ride to the stores.

The Office @ NSB City docks. We visited the town, spent over $500.00 on supplies and stuff we needed.

This is a small memorial for Viet Nam but it was dated up to 1968.

Interesting memorial with unit plaques for the War to End All wars. Sorry for the loss of so many heroes but it did not end all wars. This was really an awesome memorial to WW1 and the Spanish War. Semper Fi Brothers!

Bottle Brush tree seed pods.

This is the board walk at Cocoa Beach free City Dock.  Our boat is the only boat using the dock. Several boats are anchored nearby. Some look to be derelict. Two people came by to tell  us to watch our boat as the area is high crime. Some of the stores we could see were boarded up so we did not visit the town.  On to NSB in the AM.

New Smyrna Beach Free City Docks. Beautiful park and board walk, Lots of locals fishing, Everyone friendly

We stayed two days and were told by several locals and one police man that that was OK stay a week if needed. Please if you visit be a good neighbor.

The dock is a weird shape with two curved sections and room for only a few boats. The dingy dock is for the boats anchored in an unregulated mooring field/anchorage on the other side of bridge. No power and we did not see any water connection. The street lights are bright at night and the park is well used by locals.

Plaques honoring WW1 and Spanish War Vets.

Semper Fi! Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders, Ohh Rah!

Another dock and boat ramp with small park near NSB. We would have liked to stay longer but we have appointments to keep in Georgia.
Dolphins chase us on the morning cruise to Palm Coast
