Moved to Florida Bay side of Marthon

Pretty Joe Rock is to the right in this sunset @ Banana Bay

Sunrise @ 7am yesterday from the sundeck of the office looking North across Florida Bay.
Sunset yesterday from the picnic area of Banana Bay
We moved The Office on Monday from Boot Key Harbor to Banana Bay Marina. Our new friends Paul & Sandy, along with Jeff helped and we had a safe boat ride under the seven mile bridge.
We had had enough of empty promises of Wi Fi . We enjoyed the wonderful people at Sombrero Marina Dockside, they are the best, but life is all about choices and we realized trying to stay in communication with everyone online would be impossible to manage with out a big expense.
The Office @ Sombrero Marina Dockside. The parking lot is right at the dock. We were in slip 34 paying full winter rate and promised usable internet many times. The people that were trying to install it did not know what they were doing and would not take advise.  I used my Engenius  receiver to boost a signal from a boat on the dock at the resort nearby and got by using a hot spot but that is an additional expense that we thought we already paid for in the slip rent.

The dock is old and many of the deck boards are loose and splintered. There is pump out at every slip. Dave "The Prince of Poop" is one of the nicest people on staff. He was replacing deck boards one day in the hot sun. Dave was working hard every time I saw him, always cheerful. There was a patch of grass across the road from where this picture was taken, right behind the Dockside Cafe where some people on a houseboat walked  Big Dogs.  Big Piles of Dog Do were all over the small patch of grass. Big sign about scooping and picking up after your dog is right there. The people with these two over 100 pound creatures never stop to pick it up. Weird how rules apply to
some and not others?  If my restaurant was next door I would do something about this.

We ate at Docksides and each time it was an adventure. The first time the Mahi sandwich was very good. The place had just reopened. We are not into loud music. We enjoy good music but when they fired up those huge  speakers conversation was over, your ears ring and the singers words are not intelligible and it becomes noise. Some body needs to explain acoustics and ho w to design a sound system for the building they are in. I guess it has it's charm for some people
.
back of Dockside's kitchen with the first of B dock boats.
$5.00 breakfast was excellent!
The food we had was excellent and the portions big. After the first few minutes of Happy  Hour the service issue goes south because the cook is overwhelmed in the tiny work space, The members of B dock went there for Happy Hour one night and we ordered as soon as we sat down. Our food was ready in a short wait, Our 40 other friends did not have their orders in yet, the couple across from us ordered. An hour later they had no food. The wait staff was overwhelmed and were bringing out orders to the first people at the head of the table they came to with what ever they had. The people at the other end of the table ordered first and never saw their order. I have seen chow halls organized better. Several couples got up and left having not even got to order or waiting over an hour for food or beer.

Old Faro Blanco Resort closed down. We used to anchor here in 2004-05

Burdine's Tiki Hut
