Brickhill River Anchorage @ Cumberland Island

We fired up the The Office and proceeded to motor to Cumberland. The weather promised to be nice for the next few days. We were fortunate to enjoy a nice ride down at 1400 rpm @ 7.5 kts to Cumberland Island. Our anchorage is 9.5 miles down the ICW from Jekyll Harbor Marina (  http://www.jekyllharbor.com/  ) on Jekyll Island where we have a home slip. There was one sailboat a mile away. A few fishermen visited while we were there, otherwise we were  alone. Going from one place to another, Cruising around is the fun stuff. Going into and out of new marinas can be a challenge for some. Having good docking skills is not universal and docking with good experienced dock hands is not always common. If you are new to power boats I would advise training with an experienced boater like we did. Our surveyor is one of the most patient boat handlers I have ever known. It may help that Capt. The dock master Larry had helped us out with a slip near the office. To enter the small marina and get to our slip it was a straight shot from the entrance channel. / Steps to operate 2001 Mainship 30 1. Open seacock for the main engine and watch for water flow after starting. Pull the black ball to open the seacock on the strainer for mains. Shut down immediately if no water flows out telltale. 2. Open the main fuel valve on Port topside of the tank for main engine fuel flow to yellow switch valve, open black valve, and close the two primer valves to run main. Genset fuel cut is on the Starboard topside of tank with a separate filter system. Fuel system allows the operator to select the filter and prime without stopping if offshore 3. In-cabin, Remove steps, turn on bilge light and switch open valves for seacocks to feed seawater to Air Conditioner and Generator. Do not open "Flush Valves" to run AC or Genny.  Seacocks for AC and Genny are shown open. Close after use! Light switch on galley panel. 4.
