Sanford and BoatTree Marina

Image
Sunset @ Boat Tree Marina looking East from the Cafe. We enjoyed our stay at Boat Tree. Kristy made us feel welcome and helped us with any question we had. Kristy took care of us! We would have stayed except we had issues with the dock and safety.  http://www.boattreemarina.com/ The river is very pretty this time of the year. We were at Boat Tree for February , March, April and left to explore the lower river in May The docks are teak and extremely worn and in sad shape This is the E Dock where we found room on a 50 ft dock. The finger piers on the 40 ft docks are too short to get on and off on the side.  Suzsea met a friend that could almost be her daughter.  The catfish are like the turtles almost tame Lots of neat places on the river to explore This wooden boat is abandoned Needs Work! Rayna and Suzsea on E dock You have to watch your step on the dock as temporary repair plates and missing, broken and rotted places abound. I

Rolling on the River, St John's South of Palatka

Image
South of Palatka is Murphy's Island with a free dock and a beautiful side trip around the island So many Eagles and Ospreys we soon considered them commonplace The river around the island is nice for an anchorage. No shore access! Map of area around island Suzsea approves! The st. John's system has to be explored at least one time. Try and go in cooler weather before the midges are out in force.  The weather has been awesome with cool mornings and not to hot days the month of May.  The swamp is beautiful Jean likes to drive We soon got accustomed to alligators all around A small boat can navigate Snake creek with out problem. It is like the Amazon Shore birds and tons of Egrets, Herons, Ospreys and Eagles Next our stay at Sanford
