Banana Bay First Month Update

Sunset @ Bayside from Banana Bay Marina
We moved The Office over to Banana Bay on February 24. Our friends from Sombrero helped and it took a couple of hours in a nice ride over.  The Dockmaster Capt. Larry placed us in slip #24 right in front of the dock office. We have great internet! The slip fee includes electricity, puot, the resort, and more call Capt Larry for reservations as there is a waiting list. We were very fortunate to get in.

Another Sunset

You can see the Office across the small marina. Alot of the regulars have been here for years.

The decking for the docks is nice , wide teak. No Splinters and very clean.

We have easy access to parking and a place to lock up our bikes, The resort is all inclusive with hot tub, huge pool and tiki bar in a locked area a short walk away.

In slip pump outs are by request. The four clean showers are just across the way over near the picnic area that looks over the Florida Bay. The grounds are well kept and clean. An air conditioned laundry with big machines are located in the first building near the marina.

The Office from the dock near the picnic area.

Looking out the entrance towards Pretty Joe rock. Entrance depths are good with 6 ft then to 11 ft inside.

Across the entrance looking West

Large picnic area is site for BBQ that Capt Larry hosts by filling his smoker with  briskets and ribs for a party with live music.

Looking East from the picnic area towards the Blackfin Resort entrance.

We visited the World Wide Sportsman in Islamorada to see the Not Hemingway's boat but a sister ship. A beautiful Wheeler inside the building.

The Office with the dink nestled nearby

The crew of The Fat Boy down from Jekyll for some fishing and the weather did not totally cooperate, but we had fun!

Very nice pool and hot tub for the resort is part of the slip rent.

Susea met a new friend Sophie and now enjoys visiting. She misses Pearl Ann!

The Dock has slips and a few face docks and can accommodate a few big boats in 50 ft range. The limiting factor will be depths in Florida Bay

Another sunset hoping to see the green flash

Marathon Seafood Festival was neat with a lot of fresh seafood.

Took a dink ride out to the reef and the Sombrero Light, built in 1853
Premier dive site for the middle keys

Sailboat going out to anchor out island for a week end.

Another Sunset. It has been in the 70-80s here

Last slip on the dock at the picnic area. Good snorkeling off the rocks here. You walk your dog on the grounds of the resort or around the marina. Almost everyone does a good job of cleaning up after their pets. The condos to the South are not part of the marina and off limits for pets.

Picnic area looking East

Almost a flash of green

Sunrise, not as good as Jekyll

Capt Skip and Admiral Karen have been here 18 years on the Motor Yacht to the left.
