Shrimp Boat on the Beach

At the South east corner of Jekyll is the remains of an old shrimp boat that went aground in the 90s. We walked north from there about a mile. St. Andrews sound is to the South
Wood broken off from the grounded shrimp boat was scattered all along the beach at high tide mark. You can see the boat at the low tide line to the North.

About a mile down from the corner of the entrance to St. Andrews sound.

No life was lost thanks to the Coast Guard and Georgia State Patrol

The wave action and current has twisted the aft end of the old wooden boat. The crew at the site told us the Capt had no insurance and had just bought the boat.

The Coast Guard is on site as crews try and salvage and remove as much weight as possible to float the boat.

Low tide

The transom and aft of the boat are being torn off by the waves.

The crews were out Sunday Dec 1 to try and salvage the 300 gals of diesel and oil.

Some of the wood and trash from the boat was scattered by the tide and current over a mile away.

One can never trust the sea to be always comfortable or safe if the sailor is not prepared and prudent.
The sunset the night of Nov 29 was nice.
