On our cruise North to Jekyll Island from Marathon we used several anchorages and found some interesting free city docks. Here are a few noteworthy ones. Tarpon Basin is a good stop over anchorage with a free dingy dock. Going North exit the creek and head for marker R48. Turn in to basin before R48A stay near north side of basin. Close to shore we found 5-7 ft. On in towards anchored boats we found 7-9 ft and stayed to the north of city docks.

The park is free for public use and has water, trash cans and electrical power for charging laptops, etc. A dumpster should be used that is near right side of City Office building. Locals said there are restrooms in the building. The park is a dog park. |

A public street is shown as dingy access to Publix. We did not try it as it is rocky and people were fishing from the site. |

A mangrove trail is to the south. We saw several liva boards that had been there a while.
We stopped next at Elliott Key and dingy-ed in to the park facility. It was raining and high winds so we moved on the next day. We anchored offshore and the park docks only had 3-4 ft. Very nice dockage and park but not for big boats. |
